There is new cardio and strength-training equipment that could provide the “premium” touch for your house of fitness.
Getting the right gym equipment for your fitness facility is key to drawing in members. Plus, doesn’t it feel like Christmas morning on the day the new equipment arrives? (Of course, sticking to a budget is something that needs to be considered as well.) There is high-tech workout equipment either debuting or gaining traction in 2026 that features space efficiency, smart integration, biomechanical improvements, and AI-driven personalization. All of these attributes can boost member engagement, retention, and improve revenue through premium experiences.
It is difficult to stay up to date on the emerging machines in the health and fitness industry. You could spend weeks going down that rabbit hole of the “latest and greatest”. Here is fitness equipment that has been presented in the showcases at the HFA 2026 (Health & Fitness Association), FIBO 2026, CES 2026 (Consumer Electronics Show), and the Arnold Expo. All of these pieces emphasize muscle science with technology, and mostly in a compact form, to offer different types of workout options.
Concept2 StrengthErg
The Concept2 StrengthErg is a machine that uses air resistance through flywheel technology. This one piece of compact equipment allows for chest press, leg press, and seated row movements. It was recognized in the 2026 Men’s Health Fitness Awards as a top strength innovation because the amount of resistance available during these movements is nearly unlimited. And totally without any weight stacks.
Coming in at the price of $1,500 before shipping, there are several who have added the StrengthErg to their home gym as well. Watching the videos and reading about the StrengthErg, I could see this being ideal for circuit or functional training. The free ErgData app allows users to track their performance and offers analysis that could be beneficial. A few of the reviewers have indicated they like it for its ability to safely go to failure, low risk of injury, and its potential convenience for older adults.

High-Tech Smart Cable Systems
These types of strength machines are known by so many names that it can be difficult to keep track of them all. The cable crossover, the functional trainer, the dual cables, the adjustable cables, and more! Basically, all of these have a cable or two with a variety of handles that can be used for strength training purposes. And now, instead of having a large machine with big stacks of weight plates on both sides, there are smart cable systems that provide the resistance through technology.
On a side note, how many of you used resistance bands and eye bolts with clips to create your first “cable machine” in your home gym decades ago? I almost lost an eye several times as they would get yanked out of the studs while I trained. Leave your comments below as I would love to hear your “near death” training stories!
Cable crossovers are usually in high demand at the gym because you can literally do an entire workout within a few feet of space since there are hundreds of exercises that can be performed. And as someone who has set up and moved countless heavy and large cable crossover pieces, these smart cable systems might have me the most excited for their easy installation on various squat racks.
The ANCOREX is built for commercial use, only weighs 23 pounds, and provides 160 pounds of resistance. It can be installed in minutes. It uses air spring technology with adjustable resistance from just turning a dial. While you can purchase a stationary mount for the ANCOREX, I would suggest getting the gliding mount as it allows it to be adjusted up or down in height as it is fastened onto a squat rack. According to their website, you can get better deals by purchasing a few of these at once.
The Voltra I, which debuted a couple of years ago but is currently making its presence felt in the fitness industry, is another unique handheld cable system that uses the latest tech. I can see this being handy in quite a number of boutique gyms because of its amazing ability to be mounted on just about anything. The Voltra I has a direct drive motor offering up to 200 pounds of resistance, but it also has to be recharged now and then. With the touch screen and being wi-fi capable, a person could track their progress and export the data if needed. The price tag is currently around $2,000, but I would push for a longer warranty than the current 12 months.
BodyEnergy Ab-Drive Treadmill
Think of the BodyEnergy Ab-Drive Treadmill as a type of “disruptive” cardio as it operates without a motor and is powered completely by the person using it. The Ab-Drive treadmill promotes natural movement with energy efficiency while still being able to go from 0 to 12 mph in two seconds.
It had its global commercial debut at the HFA 2026 show in March. With pricing being at about $6,000 for the commercial model, gym owners should love not having to use electricity to power it, the positive safety profile, how the curve of the treadmill addresses joint pain, and, let’s face it, the novelty factor as it will have everyone curious enough to give it a try.

Echelon Stairmill with Integrated Red Light Therapy (RLT)
Recovery equipment on its own is becoming more and more popular across all fitness facilities. Having a cardio machine with built-in recovery is pretty smart. The integrated red light therapy on the Echelon Stairmill is supposed to increase circulation and promote recovery as the individual is actively training.
The Echelon Stairmill also debuted at the HFA 2026 and combines high-performance with steep inclines, the previously mentioned red light therapy, and customizable speeds. The large 22-inch LED screen allows users to join online classes, choose from recorded workouts, and all with a charging device holder. The Pro RLT is built for commercial environments with high traffic. And with the built-in recovery, most people would view it as a premium item.
