Gym Insight Offers Expert Knowledge Along with the Gym Software
Are you tired of taking business advice about your gym from people who have never walked in your shoes? There are many things that make Gym Insight unique and stand out above the rest, and just one of those is that every person that you’ll meet on our team here has either owned, managed, or worked at a gym, or worked in the fitness industry. We are fully invested in health and fitness.
We understand what you are dealing with. We have the expert knowledge that can help you figure things out better. And this definitely matters. After all, just because a person loves ice cream does not make them qualified to operate a Dairy Queen (although that would be awesome). Don’t trust advice from people just because they enjoy running on a treadmill now and then.
Let Gym Insight help guide you to success. If you own a gym, you obviously have the passion already. But the biggest stumbling block is placing the love of fitness over the need for profit. If you aren’t making money, that love of fitness will not be enough to pay the bills. Gym Insight will help you make your business profitable. Check out all the tools our software provides and reach out with any questions about how we can help.
According to the National Institutes of Health, approximately 20 to 30 percent of adults have a great fear of needles and go out of their way to avoid them. They will even put their health at risk to avoid having to receive an injection. But now, those wanting to try GLP-1 medications that were being held back by this anxiety will finally have another option.
On April 1, 2026, the FDA approved Foundayo (orforglipron), a once daily GLP-1 pill to help those struggling with obesity. The clinical trial showed great promise with an average weight loss of up to 12.4 percent (about 27 pounds) during a span of 72 weeks. During this time, the people in the trial also had improvements with cholesterol, blood pressure, and other cardiovascular factors.
As a greater number of gym members are taking GLP-1 medications, it is the perfect time as a gym owner to start promoting workshops on how to attain the most benefits from these weight loss meds. It is just another way to make your gym stand out from the rest of the competition by making your place of fitness GLP-1 friendly.
Gym Life🏋️
Do These Issues Sound Familiar?
I recently spoke with a successful gym owner whose place of fitness just surpassed the three-year mark. He confided in me that he almost called it quits after the first year. He asked if I would share his personal story, as it might just help other gym owners who are struggling with similar issues. The gym owner asked that I withhold his name for reasons to become obvious.
He explained that when he first started his gym, there was a lack of boundaries in place. Do you encounter these problems?
Family and friends always wanted special discounts on their memberships.
His phone would blow up constantly from members texting or calling about perceived issues at the gym.
The 24-hour cancellation policy on missed classes and personal training was never enforced and cost him time and money.
He was feeling like he was being exploited financially, and to make it worse, it was mostly by family and friends.
The gym was not quite breaking even, and after all of those years of dreaming about owning a gym, he was feeling like a failure. With nothing more to lose, he pivoted. He enforced that all client communication be sent to a business email, no matter how trivial. An automated late-cancellation fee was put in place and enforced. Lastly, there were no more discounts. In fact, he did a small rate increase on memberships to compensate for his financial struggles. He said he chose to be profitable instead of a people pleaser.
Not only did it turn his gym around financially, but the most high-maintenance members who always had something to complain about eliminated themselves and canceled their memberships. He said instead of playing the “What If” game and wondering if these changes would work, he put them instantly in place and most of his problems solved themselves.
“Sometimes you just have to ask yourself if you are running a gym to make friends or make money,” he said. “As a gym owner, it can often be difficult to do both all the time.”
Pro Tips📋
Consider Partnering Up with Local Schools for Added Revenue
With the new school year officially underway, ask local school administrators how your gym can be of service. As a former educator for 15 years, every school district I taught at lacked a gym. There were no cardio machines or strength training equipment anywhere in the building. Through connections, I established a program where, one week a month during the winter, high school students were transported to the local gym for their PE classes where they would learn about fitness.
The gym agreed to it because it was an added source of revenue. Plus, it was mainly during the early afternoons or late mornings when the gym was fairly empty. The gym owner was hesitant in the beginning, but he discovered an added bonus when about 20 percent of these high school students would later enroll for their own memberships.
A special rate was given to the school for this program after some negotiating, but the program has continued on for many years with both sides happy.
