Gyms come out ahead in the frenzy of medically managed weight loss.
Clients, Did You Know?💡
We’ve created an easier way to manage guest passes!
Take a look at our new option called Delete on Expiration, which has been added to Term/Prepaid memberships. With Delete on Expiration checked on a Term/Prepaid membership, accounts created under this membership will be deleted once the term is complete. This way, if you create a day pass membership that is a pre-paid, one-day membership, the created account is automatically deleted after the day pass expires. Delete on Expiration helps avoid billing overages for those with a heavy rotation of guest passes. A few things to keep in mind with the Delete on Expiration feature:
It’s only available on Term/Prepaid accounts that are not set to auto-renew.
Once expired, these accounts move into a 7-day“Pending Delete” status and are permanently deleted unless you undelete them during that window.
Updating this setting on a membership only affects accounts created going forward, not existing accounts.
Science Corner
The Weight-Loss Drug Rebound
The news is not all rosy in the world of weight management. As the use of weight loss medications increases, studies show people “regain the weight four times faster than those who stop dieting or working out to shed pounds,” as stated in this Scientific American article.
The science community offers a myriad of hypotheses for the rapid regain. Originally developed as a treatment for type 2 diabetes, they are intended to be used for a lifetime. However, most people quit after two years. Unfortunately, there is little information on their impact on health after a patient stops taking them. Another contributing factor may be while patients lose fat while on these drugs, they also shed muscle and bone mass, leaving them in worse shape after they regain the weight.
Here’s where your gym comes to the rescue. Recent studies mentioned in the ACSM’s Future of Fitness 2026 suggest individuals who exercise throughout out their GLP-1 regimen lose less lean muscle mass and maintain weight loss at a higher rate than those who take medication alone. Offering gyms a great promotion window advertising the true long-term benefits of exercise.
This January, we published two Top Fitness Trends articles. Although we did not ignore ACSM’s Future of Fitness annual report, we conducted our own — albeit unscientific — study. Below is our brief overview of the seismic changes occurring throughout fitness today.
Here’s a refresher article on the timeless principles behind the basics of selling gym memberships. From remembering a prospect’s name to asking for referrals, following a proven program ensures a higher closing rate and happier, long-term gym members.
