Dear Friends,

The first quarter of the 21st century closes in two weeks.

Throughout the 20th century, our world witnessed more technological advances … than in the whole of previously recorded history (sic. Britannica).

100 years ago, the Grand Ole Opry radio broadcast show debuted, going on to become the world’s longest-running weekly radio program. At the same time, Charlie Chaplin’s silent film comedy classic, “The Gold Rush,” entered theatres. And in 1926, a middle-aged man named Robert Goddard shot off the first liquid-fueled rocket from his aunt’s farm in Auburn, Massachusetts.

Technology blasted onward, too.

In 1937 the binary computer debuted in digits of 0 and 1. Yet, it would take another 37 years (1974) for a small firm named MITS to produce the first personal computer.  By 2007 fruitarian Steve Jobs went on to reset the future with the iPhone.

And yet, here we stand, facing the final holiday season of the first quarter of the 21st century. Although Prince told us to party like it was 1999, we never thought the ensuing 25 years would fly faster than drones at a Super Bowl.

Funny thing about time, though. The quicker it goes, the more we want to slow its speed.

At Gym Insight, we’d like to share that moment for you. The space between doing and being, where we may enjoy our families, friends, and communities.

A place where we may feel gratitude for the growth within our lives, for the positive movement created by others. And watch with satisfaction the fruits of our labor, as our clients run efficient, effective businesses using a program we created to do just that.

Your company’s success is our greatest achievement.

21st century juxtaposition of a colorful tree against a darkened building.

Now, take this time to enjoy yourself.  For however you celebrate the holidays, we urge a dialing back.

We know it’s not easy. Everything feels faster today, especially as we wind down the days of December. And begin to consider the monumental changes facing the next 25 years.

But, remember, in 1925 we were also at the cusp of another modern American life. Luxury cars, commercial plane rides, sporting matches, and international commerce existed and were celebrated. Communities read newspapers, listened to radio broadcasts, and more than a third of American households engaged with the outside world by telephone. The entire planet bustled with enthusiasm.

As should we. There is much to look forward to in our ever-evolving world.

Yet today, this week — these days between this year and next, focus on the now: the beauty in the season; the hope for a better tomorrow; the story of man’s salvation. For beyond the tinsel and trees and presents, there is a purpose.

There is meaning.

There is a reason.

You are loved; You are the next amazing outcome of this glorious crapshoot called life.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, from your friends at Gym Insight.
